DAY THREE: What kind of person attracts you?
It depends on the situation. If we’re talking first impressions like what kind of stranger in a room with of tons of other strangers attracts me, it is mostly the weird looking ones. Pretty much whatever catches my eye at the moment. Or maybe if I’m eavesdropping and the guy next to me says something super smart and/or interesting. It’s the most disappointing kind of attraction though based on personal experience. They tend to turn out very differently from the image I’ve formed in my head.
On a more substantial level, I am generally attracted to people with something to say. Someone who’s not boring and gross. This is quite complicated because I also happen to be an introvert and it takes a bit of time for me to warm up to anyone. I think this is why dating has always been hard/impossible for me because I can’t do snap judgments on men, much less be extremely sociable with them right away. People say stupid things on first dates all the time if the movies are to be believed and I refuse to put myself through that. So I’ve either ended up with friends, or really persistent men who’ve managed to convince me that they are actually great people by way of conversation. Lots of conversation. And the men I’ve dated have all been pretty awesome in different ways!
I place such high expectations on people even though I tend to be pretty shitty sometimes. It’s a big problem.
